HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway
„Development and Dignity”

The lecture was part of the „Kapuscinski development lectures” series organised by the European Commission and the United Nations Development Programme. 32 lectures have been held so far across the European Union. The Norwegian Crown Prince gave the Kapuscinski lecture on development issues a week before the European Development Days are to be held in Poland's capital under the theme of „Development and Democracy”.

The Crown Prince has been a Goodwill Ambassador for UNDP since 2003 and he has seen how the organization is providing development support in countries like Mongolia, Sierra Leone, Guatemala or Nepal. Based on experiences from past mission with UNDP a central theme in the speech will be reflections on what is needed to make progress towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals. The Crown Prince has in the past also been part of the panel of judges that selects the recipients of the UNDP Awards for Human Development.
