The Vice-Rectors and the UW senators for the term of 2012-2016
Professor Marcin Pałys, a chemist, now serving as Vice-Rector for Development and Financial Policy, has been elected the new UW Rector for the term of 2012-2016. In the ballot process 209 electoral votes were cast for Professor Marcin Pałys. The Rector elect will formally take over his responsibilities from Prof. Katarzyna Chałasińska-Macukow on September 1st.
On May 16th a meeting was held on which the Electoral College supported the candidates for the positions of Vice-Rectors and elected the UW senators

UW Professor Anna GIZA-POLESZCZUK, doctor habilitated, was elected Vice-Rector for Development and Financial Policy. Professor Poleszczuk is a sociologist, an expert in social capital. Since 2008 she has served as a Deputy Dean of the UW Faculty of Philosophy and Sociology. She received the votes of 180 electors.

Professor Marta KICIŃSKA-HABIOR, doctor habilitated, was re-elected Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality of Education. She received 223 votes. Professor Kicińska-Habior specializes in experimental nuclear physics; she has been in charge of student affairs since 2008.

Professor Alojzy NOWAK, doctor habilitated, will serve as Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations over the term of 2012-2016. He received the votes of 193 electors. Professor Nowak has served as the Dean of the Faculty of Management since 2005, since 2008 he has been the President of the UW Academic Sports Association.

Professor Tadeusz TOMASZEWSKI, doctor habilitated, was re-elected for another term of office. He received the votes of 182 electors. Professor Tomaszewski specialises in criminology and penal proceedings. He has been dealing with the issues of teaching policy and personnel since 2008.
