Professor Katarzyna Chałasińska-Macukow was declared
a "pro-student authority in public life"

The Student Council of the Student Parliament of the Republic of Poland decided to award the former Rector with the most valued "PROstudent" prize. This title is granted to a public individual who substantially supports students and student initiatives.

By granting the prize to Professor Katarzyna Chałasińska-Macukow the student community intended to express their respect and gratitude for her support and commitment to dealing with the issues related to young people over her term of office as the President of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland.

The former Rector of the University of Warsaw received the prize on November 17th during a gala held in Palladium Theatre.

The aim of the "PROstudent" competition, which was first organised in 1994, is to promote student-friendly higher education institutions, companies, institutions, organisations and individuals whose activity is related to academic community. The prize is awarded to individuals who act as public servants and influence student community by their conduct and commitment, and whose main priority is acting for the benefit of young people.

Professor Katarzyna Chałasińska-Macukow served as the Rector of the University of Warsaw over the period of 2005-2012. From 2008 to 2012 she was the President of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland. At present Professor Macukow is, among others, a member of the Senate of UW.
