Iranian student of UW
among best international students in Poland
On January 17th the names of the four laureates of INTERSTUDENT 2012 competition were announced. The competition is organized as a part of "Study in Poland" scheme. Abnoos Moslehi, a student of psychology at UW is one of the laureates, she also received a special prize.
The sixth National Conference "International Students in Poland 2013" hosted by the University of Warsaw, has been held recently. It gathered rectors, deans, experts from international relations offices, as well as the representatives of other university units from all over the country; the participants had a chance to talk, exchange experience and honour the best international students doing their studies in Poland.
One of the laureates of INTERSTUDENT 2012 competition held under the honorary patronage of Prof. Wiesław Bany¶, the President of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP), is an Iranian student, Abnoos Moslehi. She has been studying at the Faculty of Psychology since 2010 and she can be proud of her numerous accomplishments, both in social and scientific fields.
The laureate of special prize is involved in projects and activities aimed at raising awareness in Polish society concerning the culture and political situation in Iran. She takes part in the course of Neuropsychological Rehabilitation, where in cooperation with other students, she assists in the process of rehabilitating Polish patients suffering from aphasia – a speech disturbance caused by brain damage.
Abnoos Moslehi willingly participates in projects going beyond the curriculum of her studies. She perseveres in learning Polish, her other passions include, in particular, neurology, neurobiology and clinical neuropsychology. The Iranian student works as a research assistant at the Neurobiology Centre of the Experimental Biology Institute of Polish Academy of Sciences. Apart from her academic activity she also actively disseminates knowledge on bipolar affective disorder; she is the author of articles on this topic, published in "Salamat" – an Iranian newspaper. Abnoos Moslehi is currently translating a book entitled "Bipolar for Dummies" from English into Persian.
Prof. Emilia Łojek from the Department of Clinical Psychology of the Faculty of Psychology of UW emphasizes that not only Abnoos Moslehi’s scientific record is worth honouring, but also an impressive range of other activities, particularly, social work for the benefit of Polish and Iranian citizens.
There were three more laureates of the competition honoured, representing other Polish universities. Colett Neuman, a student from Germany, currently studying at the University of Zielona Góra, was the best in the category of bachelor studies. As regards master studies, the winner was Hon Hong Huat, a Malaysian student of Collegium Medicum at Jagiellonian University, whereas among doctoral students a Ukrainian Alona Nad of AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow was the best.
It has been the third edition of the competition organized by Perspektywy Education Foundation. There were 55 candidates nominated. The winners were selected by the jury composed of Professor Zofia Wysokińska, the Vice-Rector for International Relations at the University of ŁódĽ, Robert Kiliańczyk – the Chairman of the Polish Doctoral Student Representation, Piotr Műller – the Chairman of the Students’ Parliament of the Republic of Poland and Waldemar Siwiński – the President of Education Foundation.

Within the Framework of a long-term "Study in Poland" programme carried out jointly by The Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP) and Perspektywy Education Foundation, from January 17th to 18th 2013 in the Old Library the sixth National Conference "International Students in Poland 2013" was held. The University of Warsaw hosted the conference, with the Foundation for the Development of the Education System and the British Council acting as partners. The conference focused on internationalization of the Polish System of higher education, further development of student and researcher mobility, as well as promoting intellectual potential of urban areas and regions.
