UW wins "Golden Erasmus"
The University of Warsaw is a leader in student mobility within the Framework of the Erasmus Programme. UW won the first place and was awarded Golden Erasmus statuette for organizing the largest mobility.
The University was ranked first in the category of "The greatest mobility over the period of 1998-2010 and the impact of the programme on institutional change and image of the university." The competition was organized by the Foundation for the Development of the Education System (FRSE) on 25th anniversary of the Erasmus programme.
The jury of the contest also granted a special award to Ms. Sylwia Salamon – Erasmus Institutional Coordinator at UW since the introduction of the programme in Poland in 1998.
In the contest Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań was ranked second, Jagiellonian University third, followed by the University of Wrocław and the University of Łódź.
The ceremony of handing the prizes was held on November 23rd in Copernicus Science Centre. The gala was attended by over 250 representatives of the universities participating in Erasmus programme, with rectors, vice-rectors, faculty and institutional programme coordinators. Also, Mirosław Marczewski, FRSE General Director, Professor Daria Lipińska-Nałęcz, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and Jan Truszczyński, Director General for Education and Culture of the European Commission took part in the gala. The inaugural lecture was delivered by Krzysztof Zanussi.
